New York Hospital Medical Center of Queens Reduces energy use through improved operations

Boorom provided New York Hospital Medical Center of Queens (NYHQ), a 439-bed full service community teaching hospital, with on-site operations review an consulting for 4 years.

Boorom submitted an RFP for an energy performance contract that resulted in an award for energy saving capital improvements including: on site generation, controls upgrades, air handler replacements, constant volume to VAV retrofits, and water balancing. These changes contributed to an improved environment—saving energy, increasing comfort and upgrading the info structure.

New York Hospital Medical Center of Queens (NYHQ)

This 439-bed community teaching hospital provides ambulatory care, cancer care, cardiology, community medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, and surgery services including cardiac surgery. NYHQ is a designated AIDS center, an acute care and level 1 trauma center and operates a L&D neo natal center.

In an effort of continually improving comfort for patients and controlling operating expenses Boorom has provided NYHQ with on site operations review and consultation for the past four years. Boorom was retained as the engineering consulting service directed to author a “Request for Proposals” for an energy performance contract resulting in an award for energy saving capital improvements. On site generation, controls upgrades, air handler replacements, constant volume to VAV retrofits, and water balancing will all contribute to an improved environment—saving energy, increasing comfort and upgrading infrastructure.
